Saturday Night Update at 8:45 pm CT

Not much has changed throughout the day today. Heather is still battling a fever, rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. They packed her with ice and were able to bring the fever down, but, it has gone back up again. She has been more alert today and is staying alert for longer periods of time. She is having quite a few coughing spells and is needing to be suctioned a lot more, which may indicate that she is waking up more and aware of the tube that is down her throat. It isn't taking as long to arouse her, and she has been able to acknowledge that she is aware of each visitor that has been to see her today. We've done a lot of singing about the Lord around her bedside, and she is all about that, so you can tell by her raising her eyebrows and moving her eyes that she is singing, too! We have had her favorite Gospel station, KNVBC playing beside her ear on her pillow most of the day. We haven't been able to keep it there until now because they didn't want anything to stimulate her that could agitate her heart rate and rapid breathing.

Our daughter, Hannah added an article that explains Heather's surgery. If you haven't seen it, yet, go to the tab that says helpful resources on the home page. If you click that button, it will take you to articles about seizures, Parry Romberg, Rasmussen's, etc. Also, there is a tab underneath the helpful resources that is entitled, "What is a brain hemispherectomy?" This article is very informative and you may be able to understand things a little more clearly. Heather's surgery would be considered the functional hemispherectomy. You can also go to the tab that says More on the home page, and you will find a diary entry Heather wrote while in the hospital in Atlanta, GA at age 10. You will want to read it, it will bless your heart!

We are PRAYING that she is strong enough to come off the ventilator tomorrow and can hold her own. May the Lord bless each of you!

Psalm 121:1-2

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."
